Priya Indian Cuisine Lunch Buffet

The food is delicious. The price is inexpensive. The service is speedy. What's not to love? It's the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet at Priya Indian Cuisine. It's located in the Four Corners Center, at 2937 Churn Creek Road, Redding, California.

The Best Indian Restaurant in Redding

While the architecture is generic strip mall, the decorations lend a sense of place. Turmeric orange walls are decorated with art work depicting epic stories of the Hindu gods. Along with a curio display of colorful tchotchkes, a monitor playing what looks like Indian CNN is visible behind the front counter. Simply arranged tables fill the dining room, with the self-serve buffet along the back wall. Think scrumptious culinary visit to the subcontinent.

The Owner and Cook and His Sister

Priya is a restaurant in the traditional sit-down style. I was greeted at the front door and seated by a hostess. She offered to take my drink order and invited me to enjoy the buffet. A buffet is a brilliant dining choice for Indian food. Unlike the main entree concept, meals are best enjoyed mingling the flavors of different dishes. Plus it's a chance to sample new tastes. Fortunately, signs identified each selection, as I was mostly lost after the iceberg lettuce salad.

The plentiful buffet offers a generous sampling of both Southern and Northern Indian dishes. While some buffets can qualify as extreme dining, in a scary way, the buffet at Priya was pristine. The stainless steal dishes were replenished when needed. The owner, who is also the cook, is from Southern Indian, where his father was a cook and restaurateur. The dishes were light and flavorful, each with a different emphasis. They were mostly colorful combinations of legumes, vegetables, and meat prepared with sauces, broths or spices. Those who like it hot can spice their food with one of the chili condiments.

Foodies and misers are both safe at Priya. Unfortunately, buffets can have the reputation for the value being entirely in the volume. At $7.95, the Priya lunch buffet is a tasty and economical feast. With a diverse selection of meat, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes, the Priya lunch buffet is a choice destination for solo diners, ladies at lunch, and groups of co-workers.

All the Coolest People Eat at Priya

If you want to dine at home, Indian food is a classic take-away cuisine. For most of us, preparing Indian cuisine is tricky and time consuming. The dishes tend to be labor-intensive. They often require unique spices and special skills and equipment. Conveniently, Priya offers both take-away and delivery. A phoned-in order is usually ready for pick up in 20-25 minutes. Delivery is also available.

The Delivery Van

Priya is open everyday for Lunch from 11:00am to 2:30 pm and Dinner from 5:00pm to 9:30pm. Parking is abundant.
